About HIVEJacked: At the start of the 2020/21 Festive Season HIVEArts staged ‘HIVEJacked, The Tram Stop Takeover’ along the famous Blackpool Promenade. This created an unprecedented outdoor art exhibition in a time where indoor exhibitions and galleries were closed to the public. This intriguing exhibition created a unique, open air, covid secure gallery that can be freely visited by the people of Blackpool. The HIVEJacked exhibition runs the full length of the promenade from North Pier through to South Pier showing large scale works of 28 members of Blackpool’s thriving arts community, many of whom are nationally and internationally recognised.
When & Where: The HIVEJack Exhibition opened on 18 December ’20, originally intended to run until 4 January ’21, however after amazing feedback and public demand the exhibition has been extended until the end of January ’21. Building on previous successful local and national exhibitions, including shows with international artists held at HIVEBpl and with the much appreciated support from Blackpool Transport, this project has brought a free open-air art exhibition, accessible to all, to Blackpool promenade in the winter months. The feedback from the public and Blackpool has been so positive that further Tram Stop HIVEJacks are being planned across 2021 with both Blackpool Transport and Blackpool Council.
