HIVEArts & HIVEBpl present a(nother) tramstop takeover exhibition.
HIVEArts are once again bringing art to the streets of Blackpool. Following on from the very well
received HIVEJacked exhibition, which saw the local arts organisation work alongside Blackpool
Transport to place local artists’ works into a number of tram stops along the town’s famous
promenade comes the new F/Stop exhibition.
11 tram stops along the Golden Mile between South and North pier will become home to an open-air, free to all art gallery with the works from 22 local female photographers.
F/Stop was an open call submission for female photographers and those who identify as female from within the FY
postcode, and has brought forward a large and diverse collection of work.
The final images for the F/Stop exhibition were selected by highly respected members of the national photographic community, Vanessa Ansa and Eileen Perrier, independent adjudicators based in London and part of the Hundred Heroines Group, the only UK charity dedicated to advancing public awareness of women in photography.
On the selection, Eileen Perrier (https://hundredheroines.org/microblog/eileen-perrier-2) commented–“It was with great pleasure that I was asked to select the work of local female photographers from Blackpool and hope that this important initiative will go from strength to strength.”
Many of the photographers involved have previously worked and exhibited with the local community
arts groups HIVEArts and Arrested ReDevelopment including the noted Hundred Heroines with huge and continuing support from HIVEBpl café on Church Street.
HIVEBpl will also be home to 5 pieces that were shortlisted by the judging panel. The
pieces will form the HIVE Five Exhibition, running alongside the seafront exhibition, adorning the
walls with images in the same large-scale format as the tram stop works.
The exhibition will be in place along the Golden Mile and in HIVEBpl café from April 1st to May 1st, 2021
